Postby Genevieve » Fri Jul 30, 2010 7:14 pm

Are they scary or not? Our debate can continue here.

it depends on 2 factors

1.i havent seen it before
2.i havent watched a horror film in a while

if both of those are met it can be scary but if ive seen it before i find it boring and if i watched a load of horror films its predictible and brings out my sadistic side.

Much better, I guess it really depends on the person though, if you've watched a lot of horror movies and been there seen that kind of gore before it really does nothing to affect you.

Also if I haven't seen a horror movie in a good while it can catch me off guard a little. People with innoucent minds are more effected by it, or so ya would think.

Geeze people these days are just so rude, there once were these strange words called "Please and thank you"
But apparently there too strange for some people.

Scary movies are awesome. A lot of them are predictable nowadays but the older ones are better. My favorites are the Evil Dead series because of the randomness and horror.

Well, im a horror film fan myself, a hardocre one.
The great thing about horror film is that is changes absolutely depending the time period, explaining the actual fears or taboos of the society (from the monster to alien abduction , passing to the possesed ppl and ending with the primal fear wich is the man mind itself), sadly, that is only considerable from the late 90' and before. Actually the horror film industry is death, the only thing that you can actually see is cheap movies only made for teeneangers to scare a lil up or something like that, or old ideas just plagiried up (im looking at you SAW).
Horror films have bringed up lot of classics and cult movies, i mean, "heeeres come jhonny!", if you have seen movies like "evil dead", "Cannibal Holocaust", or even "braindead" when they where just released (or at least not 30 years latter) im sure that you where scared as hell.
In the other hand, go and see "Frankenstein", "the invisibleman", "white zombie" or "phanter womans" trying to get scared, you will turn the movie off in like 15 minutes of film due to boredom.
Actually, horror films are widely ejoyed by Geeks or retro fans like me,who love to find some old and bizarre movie to watch out just for fun, or just ppl who love to watch (or remeber) a good horror film . In the other hand, maybe there are some new movies wich can scare new public (with good reason).
In 2010, the point of getting scared by horror film is almos inexistent , but they will be fun as hell dx.

Most horror movies nowadays are poor remakes of originals.

I'm a wuss when it comes to horror movies. I cant even watch Suicide Mouse all the way through!

When one of my friends suggest to see a horror film in theatres I always try to convince them to go for a comedy movie. Otherwise I'll close my eyes at all the dark scenes.

But the main reason why I hate horror films is because of things just JUMPING out at you.

Silly MadLeomon. You forgot one of the cardinal rules of Digimon - "If you have Leomon in your name, you're going to die"
